Tornadoes....

As you may have guessed by the title this is not going to be a beauty post. Being as I live in KY and my state as well as several others were greatly affected by the Tornadoes and severe storms that hit yesterday I felt it was only right to make an entry discussing what I witnessed and what is going on in surrounding areas.

Luckily for me my daughter and I were at my mother's for her birthday celebration and she has a basement so all of us were safe. There wasn't any major damage to my mom's house or even my apartment aside from some fallen limbs. We saw large gusts of wind and a massive downpour of hail the size of golfballs and marbles but thankfully it didnt do any damage.

Others in my homestate weren't as lucky. Many families in northern Kentucky had their homes destroyed and some even had loved ones killed. The devastation in Indiana and other states was just as bad and even worse. Henryville Indiana as well as Marysville was pretty much wiped out. Complete towns and cities were leveled as if they never existed and many more people were killed.

In times like these I count my blessings. I'm grateful that me and my family came out of this treacherous storm unscathed and my heart truly aches for those who lost so very much! Its in these times of need that those of us who were fortunate enough to be untouched need to help those who were less lucky. Donation centers have been set up at several places for people to donate blankets, clothes, diapers, food, etc. I plead for those of you who are close enough to please help and donate what you can and for those of you who are farther away please find it in your hearts to donate what funds you can. I'll leave a link below of where you can donate, get more information, or find out about donating your time and services if you are a nurse or emt in/around the areas affected.

We must do all we can to help our neighbors because natural disaster can strike anyone at anytime. You never know when it will be your neighborhood that is hit and you will need to ask for help. It was only in 1998 that the red cross was in my area helping us rebuild.

Please remember to keep those affected in your thoughts and be thankful everyday for what you have because everyday is a gift and tomorrow is never promised!
